Glapwell kicked off their new season in the best possible way, as they opened up with a 4-1 victory over Kinsley Boys at Hall Corner.
Overall, it was a good solid opening performance for Glapwell with three second half goals winning the game for them while Kinsley finished the game with nine men, having two players dismissed in the final two minutes.
Glapwell went ahead on 21 minutes when James Whitfield’s shot beat Tom Chestney in Kinsley’s goal. It was Chestney’s opposite number, John Styring, who had to be alert to make a string of saves before Kinsley levelled through Adam Cameron.
Glapwell took the lead just past the hour when Sam Bartram volleyed in to the top corner from 25 yards. The third from Adam Seward was a little more straightforward when he dispossessed Chestney and tapped the ball into the empty net. Kinsley were then reduced to firstly ten men and then nine as Liam Haller then Gareth Hunter were given their marching orders. The latter for bringing Dave Fedrick down in the area.
Fedrick stepped up and converted the penalty to make it a fine start to the new season for Glapwell.
