Chesterfield FC has signed Leicester City goalkeeper Adam Smith on one month’s emergency loan to provide cover following injury to first choice keeper Tommy Lee.

Lee suffered a groin strain in the midweek game at home to Bury. He is awaiting the results of a scan but could be out for around four weeks.

Smith, who is 18 years old, joined Leicester City last October from Middlesbrough Academy and in March 2011 was signed on a professional contract by the Foxes until 2014.

Leicester City has a 24-hour call-back during the period of the loan, which is due to end October 15.
