Hide AdCook said: “He’s deserved it. He’s a young player who will make mistakes but the games he’s been involved in he’s been outstanding.”
Edwards partnered Sam Hird at the centre of Chesterfield’s defence for the 2-0 win at Bury on the opening day of the season.
The pair are in line to continue their roles against Leeds United tomorrow night with Ian Evatt and Liam Cooper still short of match fitness.
