Club celebrates ground grading success and Charter Standard award

Selston confirmed this week that, in the wake of their second consecutive Central Midlands League South Division title, the Parish Hall ground has passed its inspection.

A club statement said: “The club has been working as hard off the field as on it and we can confirm that the Parish Hall ground has been passed at grade H level, sufficient for Step 6 on the football pyramid. “Alongside this, planning permission for floodlights has been granted and Selston Parish Council have kindly agreed to provide a significant sum towards the cost of the lights, which will secure the match funding needed to progress a bid with the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIF).”

Selston now await confirmation from the FA that they will be accepted for a promotion.

Chairman Mark Wilson has also revealed more good news from Notts FA.

The club has been announced as the winner of this year’s Charter Standard Club award.

“I’m so proud to be involved with this club, we have a great band of volunteers to go along with all the players at all age groups,” said Wilson.

“I think we’ve one of the best adult team management set ups at this level; the continued success of the first team must give the youngsters inspiration.”

Wilson is delighted with the progress both on and off the field this season and he’s optimistic for the future.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have been a part of the success so far: our managers, players, committee members, volunteers and supporters,” he said.

“I’d also like to thank Selston Parish Council for their support in assisting us in upgrading the ground to make it suitable to progress, we could not have got to where we are without their help, both financial and otherwise.”I hope we have a great season again next year as we approach the 50th anniversary of Selston FC.”
