Chesterfield FC’s youth team has emulated the achievement of John Sheridan’s men - by reaching a cup final.
Dave Bentley’s lads are through to the final of the Midland Youth Cup after a 1-0 victory over Walsall in the semi at the B2net on Wednesday evening.
The goal arrived early - in the third minute - from Ellis Wall.
Two nights earlier, a Jack Lester goal sealed an aggregate 3-1 verdict over Oldham Athletic and secured a JP Trophy final match at Wembley for the Spireites.
The youth team will face either Lincoln City or Port Vale in the Midlands final.
The date and the venue have yet to be decided.
