It is time now, especially after Sam Morsy’s departure, to seriously consider whether the Chesterfield FC’s main objective is paying down Dave Allen’s debt in the club, writes fan John Collumbine.

Players of Sam’s calibre are difficult enough to get hold of at our level and we must surely start to retain players to build the team and our performances. Otherwise we face mediocrity. little ambition, and no opportunity to progress through to the championship.

What is it to be Dave Allen? can you not put your investment payback on hold for the benefit of the club’s loyal and deserving fans so we can go forward with a solid team?

If your answer is no, you may as well tie Danny Wilson’s hands behind his back.
