Burton Albion 1 Chesterfield 0
Chesterfield FC’s unbeaten spell, stretching back to November and running for ten games, came to an end against the last side that beat them.
Burton’s third win this season against the League leaders came after they’d been the first away side to gain maximum points at the B2net Stadium and they followed that, two weeks later, by knocking Chesterfield out of the FA Cup.
Burton’s hard-working, up-tempo approach saw them grab the lead in the fifth minute.
Jacques Maghoma fed utility man Aaron Webster, playing left midfield, and he curled the ball beyond Tommy Lee from the edge of the penalty area.
Spireites substitute Jordan Bowery had a late half-chance but it was Burton who secured the victory, as Chesterfield fell to defeat following four successive draws.
