Chesterfield have had two fresh enquiries from parties interested in potentially buying the club.

Both enquiries have come through solicitors this week and the club’s accountants have been tasked with doing due diligence on them.

Company secretary Ashley Carson, who recently revealed that a bid from a Swedish consortium had been passed to the club through a supporter and subsequently been rejected, said: “Two enquiries have come through in a more professional manner.

“One has asked for a non disclosure agreement, which I think is a professional thing to do.”

The starting point for negotiations was originally around the £15m mark but Carson has suggested a deal could be done for something in the region of £10m.

He says it’s still early days for these new enquiries.

“There’s no substance within them so far but they want to know more about it and have declared interest,” he said.

“I’m really hopeful they’re good enough to come back and open some talks.”
