Chesterfield FC is to host a Family Football Festival at the B2net Stadium on Saturday when visitors are Colchester for a League One clash.

There will be a host of fun activities taking place catering for all the family - with entertainment and activities planned for both on and off the pitch!

It is part of the Football League’s Family Football Festival, which aims to encourage families to enjoy time together at Football League games.

Siobhan Freeguard, founder of Netmums, is an ambassador for the Family Football Festival, and she said: “Netmums are delighted to be involved with The Family Football Festival - it’s an exciting opportunity for families across the country to enjoy a fun day out together at their local league club.

“It’s a great chance for mums to get the family together and enjoy the atmosphere of a league match first-hand this autumn.”

At the B2net there will be a furry mascot race from 2pm, officiated by the North Derbyshire Running Club, and a parade of furry mascots at half-time.

Mascots expected to attend include Eddie The Eagle from Colchester United, Billy Blood Drop of The Blood Service, Gordon Lamb’s Shaun the sheep, Ashley the Bear from Ashgate Hospice, Brewster Bear from the Lockkeeper, Gully from Gullivers Kingdom, and Chester-the-Field Mouse.

There will be small-sided football activity on the pitch at half time with youngsters who take part in the Chesterfield FC Community Trust’s football coaching around north Derbyshire.

There will be youngsters from the Saturday Morning Clubs at Brookfield Community School, Sharley Park Leisure Centre, and Dronfield Sports Centre.

Also taking part will be the youngsters from the new Spireites Soccer Schools now held in partnership with Bolsover District Council at Shirebrook’s Kissingate Leisure Centre, Frederick Gent Sports Centre at South Normanton and the Clowne College campus.

There will also be face painting by Spire Face Painting, and the exclusive CFC badge will be available as well.
