Chesterfield FC’s ten-month unbeaten home league record came to an end in a 1-0 defeat to MK Dons on Tuesday night.
A Benik Afobe piledriver was all that separated the two teams and brought the Spireites’ 18-game league run to an end.
The result was disappointing but the performance was far from it as Chesterfield more than matched their opponents.
The hosts dominated possession, recorded more shots on goal and dwarfed the Dons 14-2 in the amount of corners won.
But the end result was all that concerned Spireites boss Paul Cook following the final whistle. He said: “It was a good game, our lads left nothing on the pitch.
“It was a good football match, it always will be against MK Dons who play the game in a similar fashion to us in a way, unfortunately we’ve come out on the wrong end of the result.”
