Crewe Alexandra chief Steve Davis is hoping to inflict more pain on the Spireites on Saturday.
Dean Saunders’ side head to rock-bottom Crewe after suffering a shock 2-0 midweek reverse to Blackpool.
Ahead of Saturday’s game at Gresty Road, Davis says his team want to exploit the weaknesses exposed.
“They’ve got a new manager, new ideas and lost some of their better players, but still have plenty of good ones,” said Davis.
“They lost some of their influential players who change games for them so it was always going to be difficult for whoever got the job to follow in the footsteps of what Cooky did.
“I think they are still very capable with what they’ve got and you’d still expect them to have a reasonable season even though they’ve got a lot to live up to from last season.
“The key will be not allowing them to play, we will need to stifle them.
“They do have goalscorers in their team and do have good footballers so it’s another challenge and home game that we have to get something from.
“We’re still searching for that first win at home and we feel confident that it’s not far off. Hopefully that can be tomorrow.
“We have to change our mentality towards game, particularly at home, be stronger and solid.
“We’ve shown we can do that but not at home.”
