Chesterfield could welcome four key players back into the fold against Colchester United this weekend.

Liam O’Neil, Sam Hird, Sylvain Ebanks-Blake and Drew Talbot have all been rated ‘50-50’ by boss Dean Saunders as being ready for the weekend’s game having had varying lengths of time on the sidelines.

Saunders said: “They’re all impact injuries except for Sylvain’s.

“We’ll assess them in training on Friday and then again on Saturday but I’m hopeful some if not all can play a part.

“If Sylvain is feeling anything in his groin on Friday I won’t risk him. Drew trained on Thursday and should be OK, Sam and Liam will train on Friday and could well be fine.”

Saunders added that the quartet’s imminent return means he may not have to delve into the loan market for the time being, commenting: “We’ll see how they all are but I don’t think we need to add any more at this moment in time.”
