Forward Dan Gardner has revealed his delight at signing for Paul Cook’s Spireites from FC Halifax Town.

The 23-year-old has put pen to paper on an 18-month deal at the Proact Stadium and becomes Chesterfield’s second signing in a week.

Gardner, pictured on the ball, has scored seven goals for the Conference Premier side this season and has been on Cook’s radar for some time.

He said: “I’m very pleased because I wanted to play in the Football League and I think Chesterfield is definitely the best club for me to be at as they strive to win promotion to League One.”

Spireites fans could get a glimpse of the former Celtic man next Saturday when Bury visit the Proact.

Chesterfield’s game at Cheltenham Town scheduled for today (Saturday, January 4) has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
