Torquay United today declined to comment on allegations two Chesterfield players were bitten during the Spireites match against Torquay at the weekend.

The claims were sparked when Ollie Banks posted a photo on Twitter and wrote: “I can’t believe another human has taken a chunk out of my ribs in a football game! Disgusting!”

At the Chesterfield FC AGM last night, the club was asked if it would be “following up the biting incidents”.

Shareholders heard claims that Armand Gnanduillet and Ollie Banks were bitten during the home team’s 3-1 win.

Spireites manager Paul Cook said: “It’ll be in the referee’s report. Hopefully there’ll be some action against the player.

“We make sure that our players try and conduct themselves properly. I don’t think any manager would be happy with their team doing that,” he added.

Striker Gnanduillet was on as a second-half substitute.

Today a spokesman for Torquay United declined to comment, adding the manager was “unaware” of the incident.
