Chesterfield FC manager Paul Cook is looking for a reaction from his players at Walsall, after defeat mid-week at Colchester United.

The Spireites take on a Saddlers team second from bottom in the League One table but Cook is far from expecting an easy ride at the Bescot Stadium.

“We know we’re going across to a very tough game, when teams are getting beat, we’re not on the best run we’ve ever had, it hurts and you should get a reaction.

“I’m sure Dean (Smith, Walsall manager) is looking for a reaction from his players tomorrow the same way I am from ours,” said Cook, who complimented the Saddlers boss.

He added: “I’ve got great respect for Dean, all managers want to progress and we all say we’re ambitious, but a club like Walsall have fought well for a number of years.

“He’s done a fantastic job and Walsall are a very good club. I think when teams lose a couple of games on the bounce, you never know.

“We’ve obviously had them watched and I’ve seen the DVDs, they want to play. Colchester wanted to play the other night but it didn’t work and they changed it very quick.”
