Paul Cook will be hoping to have got a new face in ahead of tomorrow’s key trip to Peterborough United.
Spireites’ manager is looking for a loan striker following Caolan Lavery’s recall by Sheffield Wednesday and he’s also let ex-Owls youngster Charlie Dawes go, along with defender Jack Broadhead.
However any new blood is unlikely to start at London Road following Sam Clucas’s two-goal performance against Gillingham after he’d been asked to play as the single striker in front of three attacking midfielders.
His two goals were teed up by Sam Hird and Gary Roberts whilst it was his header from a Tommy Lee clearance that found Roberts for him to assist Jay O’Shea for the vital second goal in the 3-0 win.
The former Mansfield Town man, who moved across the M1 in August, said: “I’ve hit double figures now, that was my aim when I came here. I’m happy as Larry now, all of the lads have welcomed me in, it’s a great bunch of lads out there.
“I think every game now we’ve got to take as a final because we need to win every game we can now until the end of the season.
“We’re a good team and the gaffer knows that we should be there cemented in the play-offs. We’ve had a few sloppy results and hopefully we’ll rectify that and go on a good run now.”
Sam Morsy, missing through suspension for the last two games, looks set to come in for Gboly Ariyibi, who’ll be on the bench, whilst Cook will also be hoping to have Byron Harrison available after he’s been absent due to a family bereavement.
Spireites are two points behind Posh with a game in hand so will see this game as a huge opportunity to get right back into the play-off mix.
