The 17-year-old midfiedler picked up the Man of the Match award after an impressive 74-minute display in a 3-1 defeat by Rochdale.

Indeed Rowley was one of very few positives for Town on another difficult afternoon.

Fellow midfielder Angel Martinez was not surprised by Rowley’s contribution.

The Spaniard said: “It’s not new for me, I have been playing reserve games in my recovery, spending many games with the young fella.

“He’s a talented guy that will be amazing in the future.”

The good news for Spireites supporters is that former Millwall and Blackpool man Angel believes Rowley can get better.

“He’s already good but with some experience and confidence in the future in the future he will be an amazing player for us,” he said.

There seems little chance of the youngster getting ahead of himself however.

Academy coach Dylan Kerr revealed that Rowley’s feet are still firmly on the ground.

He tweeted: “Friday trained, went college, Saturday made full debut, after the game swept, cleaned the dressing room.”

Rowley caught the eye of manager Gary Caldwell in a recent reserve game against Grimsby.
