League Two champions Chesterfield FC will be heading to Matlock Town this evening for their second pre-season friendly.

In their first warm-up game, at Alfreton on Friday evening, John Sheridan’s men won 4-1.

Two of Chesterfield’s goals came from striker Jordan Bowery.

The opener - which gave the B2net men a 1-0 half-time lead - was scored by one of three trialists included in the starting line-up.

Bowery made it 2-1 to the visitors before Alfreton’s Matt Wilson pulled one back with nine minutes remaining.

Two late goals sealed the outcome.

Bowery struck first before veteran marksman Jack Lester headed home a cross from new signing Mark Randall, the midfielder who has joined the Spireites from Arsenal.

Making a comeback for the Blues was central defender Aaron Downes who has recovering from a knee injury which kept him sidelined for 18 months.

The match at Causeway Lane’s Reynolds Arena is due to kick off at 7.45pm.
