Chesterfield, who themselves are without a win in five outings, might see some familiar themes in Blackpool Gazette writer Rosie Swarbrick’s assessment of the Cod Army’s recent form.

“Town ended a five match winless run with a convincing 2-0 win over Peterborough on Saturday,” she said.

“Before that individual errors, silly mistakes and switching off in injury time had cost them goals but their confidence has been boosted after picking up their first clean sheet since their 2-0 win over Coventry on 3rd September.”

Fleetwood boss Uwe Rosler sets his young team up to play counter attacking football and has recently switched from a 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 formation, allowing Kyle Dempsey and ex Spireite Jimmy Ryan to get more of a foothold in the game, linking defence and attack.

Swarbrick said: “The in-form player is on-loan Huddersfield midfielder Kyle Dempsey who ran the show on Saturday.

“Top scorer David Ball is another one to watch.

“The forwards and midfield have bags of pace and can be lethal in front of goal having scored in every league game so far.”

Dempsey is not the only new face becoming a favourite at Highbury Stadium.

Centre-half Ashley Eastham has settled into the back four and experienced goalkeeper Chris Neal has put in some good performances.

Rosler’s starting line-up is hard to predict, the German often preferring not to inform the press when players are injured.

But it is known that Chris Long is a doubt due to an unknown knock and Aaron Amadi-Holloway is recovering from a hamstring injury.

Chesterfield have not lost any of their previous seven league games against Fleetwood Town, most recently drawing 0-0 with the Cod Army at the Proact in March.

The Spireites find themselves four points behind Fleetwood, who sit 13th in League One after a dozen games.
