Chesterfield fans want to face off against their nearest rivals Sheffield United on the opening day of the new season.
The Spireites supporters who responded to a Derbyshire Times poll voted for the team they’d like to face first in 2016/17 and the venue.
And the Blades, at home, was the fixture that won the most votes.
Last season the Spireites were well beaten by United, going down 3-0.
This week’s signing of Ched Evans only strengthens the links between the two clubs, with boss Danny Wilson and assistant Chris Morgan counting Sheffield United as a former employer, along with Connor Dimaio.
Other popular options were League One newboys Bolton Wanderers and Northampton Town, both at home.
The most popular away fixture was, again, Sheffield United.
Both Coventry City and Gillingham failed to earn a single vote from a Spireites supporter, either home or away.
Chesterfield fans will learn their schedule for the new season tomorrow morning.
