Fleetwood manager Steven Pressley is hoping to exploit Chesterfield - by scouting out the Spireites’ newest addition.
Last week saw Richard Wood head to the Proact after cutting short a loan spell with the Cod Army.
Ironically, Wood is poised to make his debut for Dean Saunders’ side this weekend - away at Fleetwood.
Ahead of the meeting, Pressley says he respects Wood but will be doing all he can to spoil his maiden Chesterfield outing.
“Losing Richard Wood was a disappointment because he’d formed a good partnership with Dionatan Teixeira in the short period of time they had been with us,” said Pressley.
“For family reasons and location, Chesterfield was a more appealing option to Richard.
“I think it’s going to be very difficult.
“He’s going to play elsewhere for family reasons.
“He had a really frank discussion with me last Friday.
“I really respect Wood.
“His performance on Saturday typified the man he is.
“But I told him in the dressing room all our analysts work next week will be how we can exploit Wood, in behind.
“Because of his family, he’s got young kids, at this moment in time they may well be able to offer him greater security.
“But what I will say is his attitude, his professionalism, his level of performance since I’ve been at the club and the way he went about things on Saturday were a credit to him as a footballer.”
