Chesterfield Ladies Football Club will celebrate almost two decades of contribution from one individual on Sunday at the Proact Stadium.

As the season draws to a close, the club plan to go out in tyle, with all of their teams playing on Chesterfield FC’s pitch.

The day will focus on one individual, Steve Barber, who has recently retired from his managerial role after 18 years volunteering for the ladies club.

Sunday will act as a testimonial for Barber, who modestly credits the work of those around him for helping to build the club to what it is today.

“With hard work and team work you can achieve anything,” he said. “I send my love and best wishes to the club, to my club.”

Chesterfield Ladies FC’s younger teams will kick the day off at midday before the first team take on Rovers Foundation at 4pm.

First team player Leoni Everley paid tribute to the manager.

“Steve has been the face of Chesterfield Ladies and was there when I first joined 12 years ago,” she said.

“He has not only been a manager, but a great friend going above and beyond for all the girls within the club.

“He will be missed greatly and fully deserves this testimonial match.”
