Jack Lester looks likely to be without two of his veterans again on Saturday for a ‘tough’ trip to Lincoln City.

Both Tommy Lee and Sam Hird are expected to miss out, against a side Lester says are further down the line than his at this stage of the season.

Lee has a cut on his knee that may need stitched up in surgery and Hird is struggling with a groin issue.

An experienced duo, they’ll be a big miss against an outfit Lester clearly admires.

“I think (Lincoln) have got good identity, they did really well last year, have a really good management team, strong, physical players and it will be a tough day,” he said.

“They’re a little bit down the line from us in terms of knowing what they want from one another, their roles and responsibilities are probably crystal clear by this time and it will be a tough test.

“They’ll be fit and aggressive.

“It’s a good place to go, I know they have a good home following but we’ll go there and give them a great game.”

Louis Reed will be in contention to play having been rested for the midweek Checkatrade Trophy win at Rotherham.

And Lester has revealed that left-sided player Matt Briggs missed that game due to personal issues.

“Briggsy had one or two things he needed to sort outside football so I told him to go home,” said the boss.
