Chesterfield’s one hundred per cent start to life in League One was ended tonight, after a 1-0 defeat to MK Dons at the Proact.

Arsenal loanee Benik Afobe was the matchwinner, after fashioning a chance out of nowhere and making no mistake.

With two wins from two, the Spireites went into the game as one of only five sides in the division to maintain a 100 per cent record, despite a thin squad and rather low expectations.

Chesterfield actually looked good value to extend their record during a lively first half at the Proact, which saw Sam Hird hit the post and Jimmy Ryan go close - but the score remained goalless at half time.

Gary Roberts and Kyle McFadzean both received yellow cards for their part in a first-half melee, after a late challenge on the MK Dons goalkeeper.
