Chesterfield FC reserves had a deserved 3-1 victory over Port Vale in the Central League Cup on Tuesday.

Playing for the Spireites was French trialist Jimmy Juan, previously with Monaco and Grenoble.

He was given special permission by the FA to play in the cup game.

Scoring the goals for John Sheridan’s men were Jack Lester, Danny Whitaker and Dean Morgan.

Lester, who is on the comeback trail from a broken arm followed up a brief appearance against Sheffield United with 60 minutes against Port Vale while defender Gregor Robertson, who is also on the recovery trail from injury, played for 30 minutes.

Tommy Lee, who is on the mend from a groin strain, did not take part and youth team keeper Sam West was in goal.

The Spireites next match in this competition is against Rotherham United at the B2net on Monday, December 19, ko 2pm.
