Chesterfield-born Diego De Girolamo has joined Bristol City on a one-year-deal.
The ex-Sheffield United prospect was rumoured to be attracting interest from home town club the Spireites.
A statement on Bristol City’s official website said the 20-year-old had spent the week training with their first team squad.
“It’s my ambition to get into the first team as soon as possible and help out the team,” De Girolamo told bcfc.co.uk. “I’m delighted to have joined this great club.
“The gaffer, staff and all the players have been great with me and I’ve really enjoyed training. Hopefully I can learn and become a better player here.”
