Dion Donohue, Jon Nolan and Ched Evans have all been working hard to recover with the club’s medical staff this week.

Decisions on their availability for tomorrow’s game against Oxford United were to be made this afternoon according to the Town boss.

“They’re close, they’ve worked hard this week,” he said.

“(Donohue and Nolan) have been running at much faster speeds with the physio.

“We’ll speak to the physios again this afternoon but they’re getting closer amd we’ll make a decision later.”

Evans injury is an ankle problem that resurfaced after first hindering the striker earlier in the season.

But the news on the frontman appears to be positive.

“Ched is getting closer, he’s been working hard with the physios, integrated with the team as well in training so we’ll speak about it this afternoon.

“He’s trained with the physio and a little bit with us.”

All three players would provide a boost in terms of selection options for Caldwell for the visit of the U’s.

The Scot admits they’ll be a tough test, having enjoyed an impressive run of form over the winter.

But they hold no more fear than any other side, he insists.

“There’s no easy games in football, especially in this league, I know it well,” he said.

“Every game is a challenge.

“It doesn’t matter who we’re playing I believe we can beat any team in this league.

“Oxford will be a difficult challenge.

“They have match winners in different areas and can hurt you at any moment.

“We have to be prepared and organised but we have to play aggressively on and off the ball.”

A repeat performance of Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw against Millwall would keep the manager happy, as long as it was accompanied by some magic in the final third.

“We need wins at this moment in time,” he said.

“We need to take Tuesday’s mentality and add a bit of quality and that goalscoring touch that is going to get us three points.”
