Chesterfield manager Paul Cook has strengthened his squad with the addition of teenage midfielder Michael Onovwigun.
The 18-year-old arrives at the Proact Stadium on a free after leaving Brentford and becomes the Spireites’ fourth summer signing.
He has signed a one-year contract at the League Two champions and the club has the option of another 12 months.
Chesterfield manager Cook believes Onovwigun has potential and views him as one for the future.
Cook said: “He was initially on trial with the development centre squad and we quickly came to the conclusion that it was worth offering him a professional contract.
“It is a big year for Michael, who now has a chance to fulfil the potential he showed at Brentford.”
