Chesterfield can’t allow Oxford United to build confidence in possession this afternoon, according to midfielder Angel Martinez.

The Spaniard is well aware of the strengths possessed by Michael Appleton’s side, who have risen from the relgation battle to eye a potential play-off place.

But as much as Town need to be aware of The U’s talents, focusing on their own ability is essential too.

Martinez said: “I know the manager, Appleton worked with me at Blackpool.

“He is giving 100 per cent, everyone is giving 100 per cent for him.

“If they get confidence with the ball, they have talented players, quick players, young fellas, we have to make the game difficult for them.

“I want them to finish the game saying ‘wow we couldn’t do anything.’”

Martinez is confident of not just stopping the visitors, but imposing Town’s will.

“We know exactly how we can play the game,” he said.

“I’m thinking about my team, not the other team.

“If we are 100 per cent and we concentrate, we are going to win the game.”
