Chesterfield fans will be given a chance to pay tribute to the club’s record goalscorer, Ernie Moss, when the Spireites face one of his former clubs in the New Year.
Saturday, January 10, which sees the visit of Port Vale to the Proact Stadium, has been earmarked as ‘Ernie Moss Day’.
Further details about what will happen on the day will be released in due course.
Ernie, who has been diagnosed with a form of dementia known as Pick’s disease, scored 162 goals in 469 league appearances for Chesterfield.
He started his career with the Spireites and had three spells at the club. Along with Port Vale, Ernie’s other clubs included Peterborough United, Doncaster Rovers and Mansfield Town.
