Spireites skipper Ian Evatt believes there is the quality within the squad to succeed in League One next campaign.
The towering centre-half said the players’ feet remain on the ground following their League Two title winning season.
And he hasn’t ruled out the possibility of matching neighbours Rotherham United in achieving consecutive promotions.
Evatt said: “It’s great to be on board. It’s exciting time for the club. When I signed last season, I said that this club was capable of going on a journey how I did with Blackpool.
“Leg one of that has been completed, leg two is to try and get out of this league and there’s no reason why we can’t do that this year.
“You look at Rotherham last year and there are not many in there team you’d swap for ours. You got to have high ambitions and I think we’ll go on and have a good season.
“We need to keep doing what we have been doing. I believe we have a squad of players who are capable of succeeding at this level, we proved last season what a good team we are at times.
He added: “Our feet are on the ground, heads are where they should be and we’re going to work hard first and foremost to make sure we’re all fighting fit when it comes to Leyton Orient away.”
