Chesterfield FC will have to punch above their weight if they are to make the League One play-offs - according to bet365.
The on-line gambling firm have given John Sheridan’s League Two champions odds of 9-1 for promotion, the same as Bournemouth, which according to the rankings tips the Spireites to finish in tenth or 11th place in the table at the end of the season.
Favourites to win the title and blaze a trail into the Championship are Huddersfield Town (8-1) while Sheffield Wednesday (13-8) and Preston North End (2-1) are also fancied to tie up the other automatic promotion place.
Tipped for the play-off frame are Sheffield United (5-2), Charlton Athletic (5-2), Brentford (9-2) and MK Dons (9-2).
Other clubs, like Chesterfield, with an outside chance of securing a play-off berth include Scunthorpe (11-2) and Leyton Orient (10-1).
It is predicted that Yeovil Town (25-1) will go down while bet365 also thinks Hartlepool, Stevenage and Tranmere - all 20-1 - are likely to fall through the trapdoor into League Two.
Odds of other teams with longer odds than Chesterfield are: Notts County (10-1), Carlisle (11-1), Colchester (11-1), Exeter City (12-1), Rochdale (14-1), Oldham Athletic (16-1), Walsall (16-1), Wycombe Wanderers (16-1) and Bury (18-1).
The manager who is thought to be first in line for the chop is Tranmere’s Les Parry (7-2), according to bookmaker Victor Chandler.
Second favourite is Sheffield United’s Danny Wilson (7-1) while Gary Megson, the Sheffield Wednesday boss, is 12-1 and John Sheridan is priced longer at 14-1.
Managers thought to be safest from the sack and priced at 25-1 are: Gary Waddock (Wycombe), Graham Westley (Stevenage), Richie Barker (Bury), Steve Eyre (Rochdale) and Uwe Rosler (Brentford).
The odds were correct on Thursday, August 4, but are subject to change.
