Chesterfield FC will be giving it 100 per cent when Tranmere visit the B2net for the first round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, according to assistant manager Tommy Wright.
Wright was speaking after the Spireites defeated Derby County 3-1 in Saturday’s friendly showdown.
The Blues assistant said: “Any cup competition is high on our agenda because the JP Trophy saved our season last year. We will be giving it 100 per cent.’’
The Spireites upped their game against the Rams after a disappointing performance saw them lose 3-0 at home against Huddersfield last week.
Wright said: “I thought we did well. We played at a better tempo than against Huddersfield.’’
Two of Saturday’s goals came from Jordan Bowery, pictured in action aganst Derby, who came on as a second half substitute.
His first was a glancing header while the second came with five minutes remaining.
Wright said Bowery caused Derby ‘all sorts of problems’ and praised him for scoring two ‘very good goals.’
The Tranmere game has a scheduled kick of 7.45pm.
