Versatile Middlesbrough defender Jonathan Grounds is joining Chesterfield FC on one month’s emergency loan.
It is expected that it can be finalised ahead of the Spireites away trip to Exeter City on Saturday.
Grounds, who is aged 23 and is 6ft 1in tall, can play either in central defence or at left back.
Grounds is a product of the Middlesbrough Academy who made his debut in 2008 after signing a professional contract the previous year.
He has made 33 appearances for the Teesside club, played 15 times on loan with Norwich City and last season made 13 loan appearances with Scottish Premier League club Hibernian.
