Dronfield Town recorded a convincing 5-2 win over a gutsy Glapwell side at Gosforth Fields on Saturday.
Danny Wood’s neat finish put Town in front inside 10 minutes as the hosts started brighter, creating many opportunities to keep Ryan Hopkins busy in the Glapwell goal.
But the visitors weathered the storm and levelled on the half hour through Matt Timson.
It remained all square at the break before Town exploded into life.
Hot prospect Chaz Bradwell was drafted in from the reserves in the second half and gave the hosts the boost they needed.
A trio of goals in a whirlwind ten-minute spell ultimately decided the contest. Wood got his second of the game before Cal Mawbey and Bradwell extended Town’s lead.
Oliver Trigg grabbed a goal back for Glapwell five minutes from time to set up a tense finish. But any nerves were put to bed when Bradwell doubled his tally to round off an impressive debut for the Town first team.
It was Glapwell’s second defeat in their last eight league games as Dronfield kept up the pressure on Mansfield, who bagged an emphatic 19 goals in two wins over Easter - including a 9-0 thrashing of Clay Cross Town, at the top.
Meanwhile Glapwell squeezed past bottom side Welbeck 1-0 on Easter Monday.
