Blackwell MW beat Boundary Athletic to progress in cup

The weather played havoc with the Alfreton QTS Sunday League fixture list with only three games surviving.

With their own ground resembling a cabbage patch, Boundary Athletic took the pragmatic decision to concede home advantage and switch their Alfreton Cup game with Blackwell MW to their opponents’ ground.

James Pearce and Jamie Price were each on the scoresheet, but the move ultimately failed to reap its reward as Blackwell edged through to the next round by a narrow 3-2 margin.

The other games to beat the elements were both Dick Windle Cup ties, and saw Swanwick Villa progress to the next round at the expense of Out of Town, who they beat 5-4 after needing extra time to do so.

Village Inn enjoyed a more comfortable passage through in disposing of Bluey’s FC 5-1.
