The weather played havoc with the Alfreton QTS Sunday League fixture list with only three games surviving.
With their own ground resembling a cabbage patch, Boundary Athletic took the pragmatic decision to concede home advantage and switch their Alfreton Cup game with Blackwell MW to their opponents’ ground.
James Pearce and Jamie Price were each on the score sheet, but the move ultimately failed to reap its reward as Blackwell edged through to the next round by a narrow 3-2 margin.
The other games to beat the elements were both Dick Windle Cup ties, and saw Swanwick Villa progress to the next round at the expense of Out of Town who they beat 5-4 after needing extra time to do so.
While Village Inn enjoyed a more comfortable passage through in disposing of Bluey’s FC 5-1. Shirebrook Rangers beat Matlock United 3-0 in the Midlands Regional Alliance Division One with Marc Slack, Lee Crossland, and Ryan Booker on the scoresheet.
In Division Two, Mebourne Dynamo Reserves were held to a 1-1 draw at Chesterfield Town that allowed Sherwin to regain top spot in the table.
Cromford left it late before goals from Ady Kershaw and Scott Spencer booked them a place in the Challenge Cup quarter final at the expense of Newhall United. Sandiacre Town join them after seeing off Rowsley 86 Reserves 6-2.
