Alfreton Sunday League: Huthwaite FC and Duffield Dynamos play out seven goal thriller

But they were up against one of the championship favourites in Duffield Dynamos and to compound their problems started the game with only nine players.

By the time they were up to full strength, the visitors were a goal to the good but Richard Dixon levelled with a fine drive.

A penalty kick was converted by Adam Hassell as Duffield nosed ahead early in the second half, only for Dixon to restore parity with a fine headed goal.

Lee Dixon got in on the brotherly act to put the home team in front for the first time with an exquisite lob, and Steven Fisher slotted home to give his side a two goal cushion.

A late rally saw Duffield reduce the deficit, but the home team rear-guard, in which Jonathan Bingley and Dan Weaver excelled, stood firm to give Huthwaite a deserved 4-3 victory.

Rainbow Iinternational enjoyed another goal fest as they swept aside Jolly Colliers 8-1. Despite the score line, this wasn’t one of their better performances although the poor playing surface did not help their passing game.

Nigel Haslam bagged four and the other goals were shared between Steven Allsop, Karl Pare and Matt Brittle. Dave Toseland grabbed a hat-trick that contributed to Blackwell MW defeating Blue Bell 7-1.

Jacksdale Social Club completed a back-to-back double over Boundary Athletic, on this occasion by a much more comfortable 8-2 winning margin than the previous week’s 7-5 victory.

David Robinson got four, Nathan Ball a hat-trick and Phil Shaw the other.

The other game in the top division finished with honours even as White Swan and Bluey’s played out a 2-2 draw. Paco Box and Nicki Rolleton got the goals for the home team.

Scott McCabe and Matt Housley scored for Amber Athletic but Marlpool United landed the spoils in a 6-2 win.

Out of Town proved too strong for Codnor Athletic and ran out 5-1 winners. There were doubles from Steph O’Sullivan and Jay Craig, with Craig Robinson getting the other.
