The Reds had seen their inability to make first half dominance pay in last Saturday’s home game against Woking, the visitors netting three times in the second half to take all three points.
However, the roles were reversed on Tuesday night as Law’s side reminded everyone exactly what they are capable of by scoring three second half goals at the Abbey Stadium to record a first league win in six but also their sixth away victory of the season.
The Reds climbed to 15th place in the table thanks to the victory and have now picked up 23 of their total of 37 points in the league so far this season on the road.
Last Saturday’s home defeat was a sixth of the campaign at the Impact Arena which has witnessed just three victories on home soil so far for points and Law is hoping the home crowd get totally behind his side as they bid to ensure their Conference Premier Division status for a third season.
The Reds boss acknowledged the support his side received from the ultra loyal 29-strong travelling band of supporters at Cambridge.
“They were brilliant. They never stopped supporting the team from the start to the finish and the players have shown their appreciation and gratitude at the end of the game by going 60 to 70 yards to go and applaud them for their great efforts” said Law.
“I just wish the small band of moaners at our home games - who seem to criticise every little thing that goes wrong - would realise what a negative effect they sometimes have on players and get behind us instead. We could achieve so much more if we are all together.
“It is a sad state of affairs that we would rather play away from home where there is less pressure to perform.”
The Reds are back in league action on Saturday when they host eighth-placed Macclesfield Town at the Impact Arena, and a win would give the Reds a first league double of the campaign.
Next Tuesday Alfreton travel to relegation-fighting Nuneaton Town who recorded their first win in the division with a surprise 3-0 success
at the Impact Arena way back on August Bank Holiday Monday.
