Foan gives Barnsley the chop!

Mark Foan ran in a hat-trick of tries as the Panthers returned from Barnsley with a victory.

Two of Foan’s efforts came in the first half and at the turnaround the score was finely poised at 10-10.

Chesterfield’s pack made the difference in the second half and their territorial advantage saw them run in a further three tries.

In addition to Foan, additional scores came from Matt Ford and Alistair Taylor, who also converted Ford’s try.

Man of the match was Fergus Wish.

Tupton 2nds 5

Tupton spent most of the first-half on the attack but were kept at bay by some brilliant Chesterfield defending to keep the score sheet blank at half time.

The second-half began with Tupton taking an early lead but that was to be their only score as the Chesterfield team then gained the ascendency.

Tries from Chris Cooper and Luke Holt gave a narrow lead and as the game entered the final 20 minutes the Panthers stepped up a gear to run out comprehensive victors.

Tries came from Luke Holt, Phil Cawthorne (2) and Jordan adams with Colin Baker converting.

Man of the match was Luke Holt.

Tupton’s visit to Belper produced a game befitting of two teams competing at the top of the table.

Belper were first out of the blocks and built up a 17-3 lead, leaving Tupton with only a Brett Marriott penalty to show for their efforts.

In the second half Tupton produced some excellent rugby outscoring their hosts with tries by Neil Bradley and Raz Martin, both converted by Brett Marriott but ultimately they left it too late and it was Belper who gained the vital points.

Tries from Oliver Jenkins, Jack Burton, Bess Heath and a brace from Harvey Fletcher gave Panthers a comfortable win over a strong Doncaster team.

Ripley Rhinos 1sts 30,

Ashbourne 3rds 21

Rhinos took on high flying Ashbourne and produced a strong display and a bonus point win.

It was nip and tuck for most of the first half before Ripley edged into a half-time lead and sealed it with a fifth try towards the endof the second half.

Tries came from Matt Upton, Keith Buzzard, Paul Buzzard, Roy Reeve and Mitch Wilmott.

Dave Trubee kicked a penalty and slotted a conversion.

The man of the match award went to fly-half Upton.

Panthers returned to winning ways with a comfortable league victory over Leesbrook.

Playing on a very heavy pitch and in poor conditions a defeat for the second week in a row saw the Ladies fall away from the pace at the top of the league.

A father and son combination secured a victory for Dronfield.

Captain Dave White and his son Tom White scored a try apiece.

Adam Peddley converted Dave’s try.

Resolute defending came from Myles Butler and Pete Henstock.
