Firefighter Phil Austin will be hoping to be in red hot form when he travels to Romania in June to represent the UK in an international football tournament.

Phil, 25, who is based at Staveley fire Station, has been selected for the UK Fire Service football team in the forthcoming European Fire Service Championships.

Phil, from Brockwell, is the first firefighter from Derbyshire to represent the UK and is hoping to finish the season with a winning double having won promotion with Heanor Town from the East Midlands Counties Premier League.

The UK Fire Service football team will be hoping to go one better than four years ago at the last championships in Holland, where they lost in the final on penalties to Germany!
