Matlock took over top stop in Division One of the Derbyshire County League thanks to a 22-point victory over Stainsby Hall.

Stainsby batted first and in their 44 overs were all out for 114.

P. Camm took 5-39 and South African import Devon Conway returned the figures of 4-16.

Matlock knocked off the required runs in 23.4 overs, finishing with a winning score of 116-2. Conway led the assault with an unbeaten total of 49.

Matlock leapfrogged Eckington in top spot after they were defeated by Alfreton.

Eckington‘s total of 135 all out was fairly modest. Runs came from L Staniforth 38 and L Van Dam 44.

For Alfreton the major wicket-takers were J Clarke 5-38 and B Bhatti 3-52.

Alfreton collected 22 points, to Eckington’s four, by reaching a winning total of 138-3. C. Pratt led the way with 42 runs.

Cutthorpe remain bottom of the table after their match against Clifton was abandoned.

L Terblanche hit an excellent 104 while there were also good knocks from J Womble 59 and N Kingham 24 as Cutthorpe rattled up a total of 254-8.

Clifton were on 17-1 when the match was abandoned.

Second bottom Staveley Welfare lost against Sawley and Long Eaton Park.

Sawley reached 225 al out, with C Bullimore taking 3-38 and T Bullimore 3-60.

Welfare were all out for 167. Leading the way was J Bullimore who hit 67 runs while R Arnell added 31.

In Division Two, Clay Cross reached 152 all out against Rolleston. A Brown hit 36 runs.

In their reply, Rolleston had reached 61-1 when the match had to be abandoned.

In Division Three Holmewood were all out for 119, after 43.3 overs, against Alrewas. P Stone had added 43 runs.

Alrewas were on 76-4 when the match was abandoned.

Leaders Wirksworth and Middleton pocketed 27 points thanks to a victory over Brailsford.

Wirksworth reached 224-9, with D De Silva hitting an unbeaten 86.

Brailsford were dismissed for 128. P Hindmarch returned the excellent figures of 5-32 while S Lowe also took 3-42.

In Division Four North, Clowne Town reached 189-9, with D Steers added 82, in their game against Ilkeston Rutland.

However, it was then abandoned when Ilkeston were on 97-3.

Morton Colliery collected 22 points following a victory over Riddings.

They reached 171-6 with good knocks from B Matthews 44, S Else 37 and R Hatfield 31*.

Earlier, Riddings had closed on 168-8, D Greaves taking 3-30 and P Holmes 3-46.

In the top of the table clash in Division Five North, there was a draw between Ashover and Langley Mill United.

After their 26 overs, Langley Mill reached 202-5.

Batsman N. Wing led the way with a total of 73 while N. Wright added 46 and D. Blake was unbeaten on 45.

Ashover’s most successful bowler L Rhodes who took 3-48.

It was a daunting total and Ashover did well to complete their 46 overs, finishing on 133-8.

Best batsman was E. Dickens who hit 50 while P. Leatherday took 4-32.

Ashover six points, Langley Mill 19.

Division Six North leaders Chesterfield Barbarians defeated Clay Cross by six wickets.

Cross batted first and had an unbeaten 64 from M Wilmott in their total of 128-4. M Lawson took 3-41.

Barbs took 28.2 overs to reach the winning total of 130-4. J Fletcher hit 66 while P Evans returned the figures of 4-31 for Cross.
