Derbyshire lost out against Kent in the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition which was rain affected and settled by the Duckworth/Lewis method of scoring.

Kent decided to field after winning the toss and Derbyshire reached 22-0 before wickets began to fall.

When they reached 46-4 from 13 overs - three players having gone for 11 runs - the rain came and the umpires took the players off.

Eventually it was decided that play could restart at 9.20pm with each team having 14 overs of batting.

One more over saw Derbyshire close on 62-5 - Jon Clare hitting a six and s four from the first two deliveries - leaving Kent with a D/L target of 67 from their 14 overs, six of which were Powerplay overs.

Kent reached their target with 19 balls to spare.

Derbyshire’s next outing in this competition will be on Wednesday at the County Ground against Sussex, starting at 4.40pm.
