Record-breaking day for Glossop CC climb

Glossop Kinder Velo Cycling Club’s annual Snake Passhill climb was deemed a huge success after last weekend’s staging.

In total 64 riders took part in the race, with a new course record being set on a memorable ocassion.

Tejvan Pettinger, of Sri Chinmoy Cycling Team, stole the plaudits on the day after finishing first with a time of 11 minutes, 36.6 seconds.

He was followed closely by Graham Briggs, of Team Raleigh, with a time of 11.48.0.

In third place was Ben Gillespie, of Saddleworth Clarion, who finished in 13.04.2.

Other notable times include Kevin White who, with a time of 14.29.5, was the first over-40 to cross the line.

The first lady to cross the line was Joan Blakeley, of Champion System/Maxgear/base.

She crossed the finish line with a respectable time of 15.41.0.

The 3-mile climb involves over 1,000 ft of climbing and it certainly took its toll on some riders who did not manage to finish.
