Aided by Andy Moore Auto Centres / JEJ Racing team-mate Xavier Scott, the pair quickly adapted to the wet tarmac, and with Scott providing the support role, the high paced racing looked certain to provide exciting competition.

When the early break formed, it was down to Scott to take control and close down the threat, a role perfectly suited to the time-trial specialist.

With the attack neutralised, it was down to Chambers-Smith to position well for the final sprint, and the talented youngster delivered the final attack to perfection.

A quick turn of pace created the advantage and his mastery of the Giant Propel on the slippery finishing straight proved decisive, with a powerful sprint carried out without a hint of wheelspin.

Team Manager Andy Moore was full of praise for the duo.

He said: “Aaron showed complete mastery in the wet conditions. The lads followed the race plan exactly, and the bikes were specifically prepared to provide the maximum grip.

“The formula gave us the edge. Xav battled hard to pull back the breaks and positioned Aaron just where we needed him for the sprint, once more it’s the perfect team performance.”

With the team ticking off yet another victory, it’s looking like a very short wait until the champagne corks pop once more for the boys from Staveley.
