Wicketkeeper Gareth Cross to leave Derbyshire County Cricket Club

Wicketkeeper Gareth Cross has left Derbyshire after being informed his contract will not be extended.
Cross made 32 appearances for Derbyshire, with a top score of 54 in the NatWest T20 Blast fixture versus Nottinghamshire in June.
Cricket Derbyshire Academy graduate Harvey Hosein will now replace Cross in the squad for the county’s final two LV= County Championship fixtures and will make his first-class debut against Surrey starting on Monday.

Graeme Welch, Elite Performance Director, said: “Gareth stepped in at a difficult time for the club and has been a regular in all formats this season.
“He’s fitted in to the team really well and we wish him all the very best for the future.
“We must now look towards the future and this is a perfect opportunity to give Academy graduate Harvey Hosein, who is showing real potential, a chance.

“With Tom Poynton’s rehab also progressing well, we have some promising wicket keeping options going forward for seasons to come.”
