Chesterfield Cricket Club coach Chris Marples hailed all parts of his team’s performance in their Premier Cup win over Caythorpe.
Ben Slater’s century inspired Chesterfield to a convincing nine-wicket cup win on Sunday 24 hours after another disappointing league performance.
Marples said: “It was a great win on Sunday against a side who came on the back of some good form and who are second in the Notts Premier,”
”It was based on some disciplined bowling and good fielding while the two lads at the top of our order set up the win for us with Ross finishing it off.”
It was another mixed bag of results for Chesterfield who slipped to sixth in the Derbyshire Premier after falling short of Denby’s intimidating total on Saturday.
“Saturday was not so good,” added Marples. “We felt we conceded too many but we still could have won.
“We lost wickets in clusters which put pressure on ourselves and it was disappointing not to have won the game.”
