Cricket Derbyshire has announced its Official Charity Partners for 2013 will be Sight Support Derbyshire, Derbyshire Community Foundation and Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance.
Cricket Derbyshire is committed to supporting their selected charity partners throughout the current season, including match-day experiences at Yorkshire Bank 40 and Friends Life t20 matches at the County Ground.
Following applications from a large number of charities and a careful selection process focussing on association with Derbyshire, project delivery in the County, previous partnership work and the opportunity for Cricket Derbyshire to make a difference – Cricket Derbyshire selected the three local charities. Derby-based Sight Support Derbyshire raise funds to support 25,000 visually impaired people throughout the county. The money raised will help provide a range of services including sports and leisure activities which enable people to gain all the health and social benefits associated with participating in sport and group activities.
Derbyshire Community Foundation is an independent charity which promotes local philanthropy. With the generous support of Derbyshire individuals, families and companies, they are building an endowment fund to provide vital grant funding to voluntary and community groups across the county.
The Club’s final charity partner is the Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance. Flying out of East Midlands Airport, they provide a life-saving emergency service to people across the region funded entirely by the generosity of the local community.
Cricket Derbyshire will promote all three charities through their channels of communication, donate signed cricket memorabilia and explore the opportunity of hosting and or organising joint fundraising events.
Director of Partnerships Ryan Duckett said: “We received a high number of applications and after a thorough selection process; we are delighted to have formed partnerships with three local charities all making a difference across the County.
“We are now looking forward to working closely with all three charities, developing our partnership and increasing our involvement and support of community activities across Derbyshire.”
