Chesterfield Cricket Club’s popular overseas player Nitish Kumar is currently taking a temporary break from the Derbyshire Premier League to play for the star studded St. Lucia Zouks in the Caribbean Premier League.

His team-mates include Shane Watson, Mike Hussey, David Miller, Darren Sammy and Morne Morkel.

The Zouks won their first match against Trinbago Knight Riders with Kumar getting the wicket of South African, Hashim Amla, who is currently rated third in the ICC Batsmen Rankings.

This is the second full season that Kumar has been Chesterfield’s overseas player. He has been combining playing cricket for Chesterfield and studying on a Sports Science with Management course at Loughborough University.

The 22-year-old was born in Ontario, Canada, and made his One Day International debut for Canada in 2010, becoming the second-youngest player in the history of ODIs.

A right-handed batsman and right-arm off spin bowler, he played his first Twenty20 International in March 2012.
