The second running of Matlock Cycling Club’s Sheldon five-mile time-trial took place on Saturday.
The sun shone and the roads were dry but there was a fierce headwind.
Peter Colledge proved to be the strongest rider as he powered to victory with a time of 15:23.
He was over a minute quicker than second-placed rider Gareth Ferguson who finished on 16:38, with Andrew Auld taking third spot with 17:22.
Kyle Fantom was the quickest of the junior riders as he clocked 18:04 to finish in fourth spot overall.
Results: 1 Peter Colledge 15:23, 2 Gareth Ferguson 16:38, 3 Andrew Auld 17:22, 4 Kyle Fantom 18:04, 5 John White 18:59, 6 Josh Eaton 21:12.
Meanehile, Matlock’s top time-triallist’s Richard Cordin and Patrick Gould took part in the Ashville Wheelers Open 25-mile time-trial on Saturday.
Twenty eight riders battled the blustery conditions on the notoriously slow course, with pre-race favourite Steve Gibson of Peak Road Club taking the victory with a time of one hour and 29 seconds.
Patrick Gould, pictured, finished a hugely impressive second, exactly a minute back on 1:01:29.
Richard Cordin also finished inside the top ten, coming home in sixth spot with a time of 1:03:01.
